Care after Extraction

Do
- Keep the gauze in the mouth to bite on for about 30 mins. After
half hour, discard the used gauze, take new gauze and repeat the
process.
- Keep biting on the gauze till the bleeding ceases. In case, it
doesn't stop even after an hour then call us immediately.
- To reduce the swelling, use an ice pack and apply pressure on the
cheek. Before using the ice pack, make sure that the effect of
anesthetic has gone completely to avoid frost bite.
- Slight bleeding even after a couple of days is completely normal.
Place a wet tea bag (water squeezed out) in the mouth and bite on
it. Tea contains Tannic Acid which narrows the tiny vessels by
forming a clot.
- Consume vast amount of fluids.
- Eat easy to chew yet nutritious food for next couple of meals.
- Take complete rest for at least a day.
- Gently rinse with warm salt water (About half tsp salt in 5
ounces water) after every single meal after 24hr of extraction.
- Slight discomfort and swelling is completely normal.
- Take medications as per the prescription and instructions given.
- If you are directed to use the ice pack, please follow the
directions.
- To avoid getting blood spots, cover the pillow with an old towel.

Don't
- Completely avoid smoking for about two days.
- Avoid rinsing the mouth forcefully for 7 days.
- Avoid using straw for drinking for 7 days.
- Avoid using straw for drinking for 7 days.
- Avoid candy and mints for 7 days.
- Avoid spitting with force.
